Re: GP in USA - Glen Helen?

Re: GP in USA - Glen Helen?

Re: GP in USA - Glen Helen?

Re: GP in USA - Glen Helen?
Iemand die mijn mening deelt:
MXlarge: I’ve asked many people about the USGP, what do you think about going there? Are you looking forward to it?
Nagl: No, for sure not. I don’t like the country, maybe I’ve been to the wrong place, but I have been there three times and I don’t have fun there. I don’t like the atmosphere there. Also the planning isn’t good. The week before that race I had a big race in Germany, in the south of Germany near where I was born, but now I miss that race and all my fans and people are upset about that. Also that travelling, long flight, it costs a lot, and we have to be back for France.

Re: GP in USA - Glen Helen?

dpingree101 schreef: Ben begins riding again next week. He will be at Hangtown and is more than likely riding the GP at Glen Helen. His plans were changed with the accident he had this spring but the injury is healing quickly and he'll be 100% soon. He'll have 1 month to knock the rust off before the 1st moto in Sacramento. Go ahead and make jokes slomoto... certainly shows what an asshole you are. He will win races this summer. Watch.

Echtheid van dit bericht ... Onbekend...
Scenes We'd Like to See...But Won't Ken Roczen at Hangtown
With a week off for the GPs before their visit to Glen Helen, we hear that there were inquiries made about the possibility of an age exemption for German teen Ken Roczen to sign up at Hangtown. Unfortunately, as much as they'd love to have him there, he didn't get a pass for a rules exemption. Of course, neither did Pastrana, or Carmichael, or anyone else back in the day, and maintaining that championship integrity is probably a good idea.
But who knows? Is there still be a chance we'll see Teka Rockstar Suzuki's Clement Desalle at the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship season-opener? His one-race appearance in the 450 class last year at Washougal on a Dirt Lab Honda was impressive. What could he do on a factory Teka Rockstar Suzuki machine? (Obviously it'd have to be modified to work with the U.S. rules...or would it be a Rockstar Makita Suzuki? They could definitely use some healthy bodies under their tent.)

Still no word from Europe whether they will drop sound rules for USGP in a bid to attract AMA teams. The GP teams are not happy about it.

Re: GP in USA - Glen Helen?

Re: GP in USA - Glen Helen?

Re: GP in USA - Glen Helen?
DV heeft blijkbaar last van de zon:
As the winner of six international Grand Prix races himself, French racing hero David Vuillemin has some unique insight on the forthcoming USGP at Glen Helen set for May 30th.
In addition to winning at the top levels overseas, "Le Cobra" lived and trained in Southern California to compete in both the Supercross and AMA outdoor national series, moving to the area full-time back in 2000, so he knows exactly what the world's best motocross riders will be facing at the USGP.
"The USGP at Glen Helen is going to be the hottest race of the year for the Europeans and it will be tough physically with the heat and the rough track," explains the recently retired DV12 (as he is known online). "The best advice I can give them is to be ready to race a tough and brutal track!"
This gives the American wildcard riders a hometown advantage. "In addition to the usual challenges of having to recover from jetlag and learning a new track, dealing with the heat will be an issue. Some of the GP regulars ride with camelback when it's 70 degrees," explains Vuillemin. "I don't know what they are going to use when it's going to be 90 degrees!"
Still the talent is top level, and DV12 says the GP regulars can adapt and overcome. "It is going to be four great motos of racing with a deep field of talent. Many Americans may not know all the names, but the level of competition is close and it should make for some good racing! It's a two-day race format with a 25-minute qualification race on Saturday for the gate pick on Sunday."
So who can we expect to see up front on Sunday? "The trio of Marvin Musquin, Jeffrey Herlings and Ken Roczen is going to be cool to see in MX2, but the real battle will be watching Tony Cairoli try to defend his #1 plate in the MX1 class. Musquin and Roczen will be tough to beat, even for the Americans and I hope some top U.S. guys will join the party in Glen Helen," says DV12. "In MX1, Cairoli is the guy to beat on the new KTM 350, but there are a lot of great riders. Clement DeSalle from France, David Philipaerts from Italy, Max Nagl from Germany... I can't wait to see those guys race each other!"

Hangtown and Glen Helen News
Everyone seems to be waiting to make up their minds about whether or not they are racing the U.S. Grand Prix (if they are based in America), or the Hangtown National (visiting GP riders). We can tell you two things for sure: Monster Energy/Ricci Yamaha GP star Ken DeDycker has sent in his entry to race at Hangtown on Saturday, May 22, and Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green off-road star Ricky Dietrich has decided to try his hand at the U.S. Grand Prix at Glen Helen. DeDycker, who hails from Belgium, is currently fifth in the MX1 standings after three events. As for "RD39," U.S. race fans will likely recall the heroic rides he had last year while filling for the injured Ryan Villopoto on the Monster Energy/Kawasaki MX team, which earned him AMA #39 for 2010.
